Classmate Happenings

We got a nice card from CORA JEANNE ELLSWORTH Wylie (Wm. U.) back in February reporting her new address, which is: 977 Harris Road,   Grays Lake, IL   60030   Ph. 847-548-0424.

"Sorry I won't be at the All Glenbard Reunion Feb. 27th, but did want to inform you of my new address, etc. Thanks for sending me the Newsletter."
This is a good hint for all of us: Be sure and tell us (Staff) of the changes in your lives so we can keep you up to date on OUR changes!

While on the desert this past season, we received an e-mail from dear Pal, DARYL JAMES, who lives on the Desert year round:
"England's Queen Liz turned 80 in April... Palm Spring's Queen Daryl hits the mark in May"   (Ed. note: I Love this guy!)
"To celebrate, there will be a party at 800 Stevens Road, Palm Springs, May 13, 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. Never thought I'd be able to spell octogenarian let alone reach such a heady but ominous milestone. d.j."
AND what a lovely celebration it was...with a marvelous guitar soloist named Steve Petersen, catered supper and cocktails, and the very best of PS 'celeb's (including Ben and me, of course!) A gorgeous home backing up to the mountains with very modern decor, cactus gardens, pool and a host who provided a great evening.   YAY for 'oldness'!

ROSE MARIE (MAREK) Vaughn has been in touch..."Mosie" always checks in to tell me, 1: that she's OK; and 2: some of the happenings going on in her life. Mosie is sort of handicapped (for too many reasons to mention here), and is currently in a wheelchair to get around. But her daughter and son arranged a visit to Las Vegas for her Birthday, and they evidently went First Class all the way...room, food, shows and the works!! How Fun! ( It may have been HER 80th too?)

BOB AND JANE HILB joined The Sunrise Country Club last season. One evening we had dinner together in the dining room (photo below). Ben really enjoys playing golf with Bob, and we try to get together often whilst they are on the desert. Along with DARYL sometimes, too.

It's either feast or famine, as always. Just as we think that we are in deep trouble, and have nothing to tell you, we get a burst of activity. The new realization is that many of us (not ME!) are turning 80 this year, and there may be some interesting celebrations on the way!

We've mentioned Daryl's on May 13, and just now we received the announcement of WOODY'S: July 15th. Who'd ever have thought we'd even KNOW each other at 80? Check out PHIL'S very clever announcement below. Would that we could all surprise him and crash the party!!

So be sure to send news of YOUR 80th when it happens. CHUCK made the grade on March 17th, but we were not advised of the Bash! (If any.)   Gosh, I think it's SCARY!

"May you live as long as you want to.
May you want to as long as you live."
