The 2006 Glenbard All-Class Reunion
Laughlin, Nevada
Here's the schedule from the Reunion Booklet (modified by The Editor).
The program for the Laughlin Reunion was reserved for all who had paid for the tickets, and GERI DICKS (the brave lady who did most of the work) delivered ours to our pre-first-night gathering in a Two Bedroom Suite at the River Palms Hotel, which we decided was the best place for our Party.
It worked out perfectly...almost everyone got the message about the party and we even had a few extras like Geri and her husband George, and Birch Musselman whom Chuck had seen while checking in and invited up...but we missed JENNY (SWALLEN) and Dave GROENIG who somehow mixed up the time. DON JAMESON and wife June did not receive the e-mail announcing the party either, so we didn't see them until the next evening.
All in all, it went off without a hitch. People brought their favorite beverage, and some brought a chip and dip, or a hunk of cheese and crackers. We,(Ben and I) had been to "BIG LOTS" on the desert, and found some inexpensive plastics for containers, napkins, paper plates, glasses, etc. (some of the Treasury $).
Of course, the hotel had ice, and the suite was furnished nicely with table & chairs, 2 bathrooms, a couch or so, and a desk where CHUCK put up his computer to view pictures. We even had a little music from a 'boom box', but we were gabbing pretty loud, and hardly anyone listened to the CDs. AL and CECE OSTERLING occupied the suite for that night. We couldn't convince anyone else to do so, so they had BOTH bedrooms!
Because we got to see our "own" in the quiet (sort of) of the Pre-party party, most everyone thought it was the highlight of the Reunion! About half way through the evening, JIM and FRAN (PROCTOR) LOVE descended to the Lobby and ordered several SUBWAY sandwiches which we cut into smaller portions, and that was our 'catered dinner'...who doesn't like SUBWAY? (also some of the Treasury, but not much...see $$ report further on).
Naturally, the flash bulbs were sparking, and we even got some good pictures. Mostly JOHN GLATHE who is the master clicker, I think...he sent us all a DVD with pictures of almost everyone, and CHUCK has put them together in a color page (worth the buck this time, for sure!) He tried to get pictures of all the 'couples', and the singles seated at dinner or where ever. This EDITOR could sit here and comment on each alum of '44...each one did a great job, and each one is more handsome or gorgeous than last we saw them...HONEST!
It's proof of an impressive effort to be the best you can.
The biggest human temptation is to settle for far too little
