In May 2003, the AMVET POST 66, (named for our FRANK MOULTON, remember?) honored former President Gerald Ford, and presented him with an award.
In January 2002, the late Morris Kight and Post 66 held a remembrance ceremony for some of the "forgotten" heroes as well as the victims of 9/11. Mr. Ford signed a letter praising Oliver Sipple (the gay veteran who saved his life when he was attacked by "Squeaky" Fromme, a Manson follower, in San Francisco in 1975) and authorizing a memorial wreath at the cemetery ceremony.
In the past two years, Mr. Ford has been quoted that he supports gay equality. Now, he has a plaque on the wall that is from The Frank Moulton Post 66. Tom Swann is the current Commander of the Post...DARYL, shown with him, is the recent past Commander. President and Mrs. Ford are very supportive of the desert communities, and Mrs. Ford started her "Betty Ford Center" within Rancho
Mirage for the rehabilitation of people with alcohol addiction.
