WE HAVE OTHER FRIENDS AND CLASSMATES WHO HAVE ALSO MADE THE HEAD-LINES:
Lawrence "Bud" Yackley left GLENBARD in his senior year for service in the
US Navy, and was told when he returned that his service training didn't warrant enough credit to get a diploma. A newly approved state law, though, gives veterans credit for their service to the country, and the right to collect the diplomas they didn't receive. Yackley returned from the war, married his sweetheart, Pat, a Glenbard Graduate, started his own trucking business, built a house in Glen Ellyn, and raised a family that included five children.
Blessings on you, Bud!
Another pal heard from . . . DOROTHY LORD STERRETT, and husband, John, will be with us in September!! Dot left Glenbard in 1943, but like your editor, has EVER LOYAL memories! They currently live in Glenview.

The part of this job that is the hardest for me is our recent list of ANGELS! It makes a believer out of me...that we'd better enjoy this REUNION, and even more...better Carpe Diem while we can...

Reno Kietzman at 101 years of age.
Ring a melodious bell for these our
newest ANGELS.
We had every hope of seeing Gunny again at this reunion in September, and indeed, his 2 sons and daughter Linda had sent the dollars in for 3 of them to come. Linda Bucaro and David Wittmuss told us to keep the reunion money, as their Dad would have wanted to contribute. Typical Gunny.
We're also sad to report that Dick and Rosemary DeWitt lost their son, Steve, as he was killed in an auto accident on the way home from a visit with them on February 28, 2002. Normally, we would not list Steve with our Class Angels, but Dick was writing an e-mail to me about a
"computer virus" when he got the news of Steve's accident. Not fair. We aren't supposed to lose our children first.

Here's a couple of 'not so angelic' guys we hope to see in September!!!

DANNY FRANK has definitely made his reservation for the REUNION!. Every now and then I get a call from Dan to see wha's up!..he doesn't have a computer at this time, so cannot check the updates.
Dan is a Clinical Psychologist, and has spent the better part of fifty years treating people of all ages, but specializing in adolescents and children and families. He worked with the Chicago State Hospital, and developed some treatment programs himself. After retiring from the State of Illinois, he helped cancer patients in Ravenswood Hospital using biofeedback, relaxation and imagery processes. He now chooses his own hours, and has been working with nursing home residents.
Dan has four kids, and talks to them frequently. He hasn't played his sax for years, but still loves music and dancing, and fondly remembers our Sock Hops and the dances in the Boat House.
Dan's in good health, lives alone since his divorce, and keeps busy with his large yard and household chores!
SEE YOU VERY SOON, DAN

Did you know? The term "the whole 9 yards" came from WWII fighter pilots in the Pacific.
When arming their airplanes on the ground, the .50 caliber machine gun ammo belts measured
exactly 27 feet before being loaded into the fuselage. If the pilots fired all their ammo at a target, it got "THE WHOLE NINE YARDS"
